What ever happened to being a “suspect brought in for questioning” before being hit with charges.

Arrest records are never fully cleared. That shows up in background checks even if you are innocent.

Of course if Reade Seligmann was a Black man and his accuser a White woman, it would be “racist” to charge him without even questioning him first.

With Mike Nifong, all someone needs to do is make an accusation and the person they accuse is charged with a crime, no questions asked!

This seems to be an unbelievable abuse of a DA’s power. Rape is a heinous crime but false accusation about rape is pretty bad too. I feel bad for the victim in this case, whoever it comes out to be.

I’m not sure what to think about this case. He’s claims to have some evidence, but it’s hard to imagine what it is. Some claim that he is pursuing this for political purposes — in order to shore up support in thie year’s election. Ironically, though, it may be his prosecution of this case that proves to be his undoing.
