I noticed something that I thought was amazing when I saw this ABCNews video about Reade Seligmann. He’s a Duke lacrosse team player indicted for rape, who has a nearly air tight alibi. In terms of the time line it pretty much is air tight. Unless 3 guys raped 1 women in what would probably be the fastest group rape in the history of the sick crime.
Reade Seligmann was ID’d by the stripper, who claims she was rapped. She picked him in a photo lineup. So DA Mike Nifong charged him with rape and brought him in with the cuffs on. Now he’s got an arrest record and a record of being charged with rape. And let’s be honest, he could be totally cleared tomorrow and this kind of thing never really is removed from every record with his name on it. So he’s going to have it haunt him for life. Not to mention the public knowing his name now in connection with a supposed rape.
It turns out the police never interviewed Reade Seligmann before arresting him on the rape charges. So they never knew about his leaving the party early and having made 2 calls while he was in the house. Which means the odds of him being a rapist are incredibly slim. Also given there is no DNA match, even under her nails that supposedly gouged into the flesh of her attackers, he should have been cleared. The DA is learning about the alibi as the news media reports it.
Just incredibly sloppy work. I think these guys are innocent. This stripper should be locked up.
All it took was a woman saying “he raped me”, Mike Nifong ran to make charges and some grand jury OK’ed it. This is insane!

I’m not sure what to think about this case. He’s claims to have some evidence, but it’s hard to imagine what it is. Some claim that he is pursuing this for political purposes — in order to shore up support in thie year’s election. Ironically, though, it may be his prosecution of this case that proves to be his undoing.

This seems to be an unbelievable abuse of a DA’s power. Rape is a heinous crime but false accusation about rape is pretty bad too. I feel bad for the victim in this case, whoever it comes out to be.

What ever happened to being a “suspect brought in for questioning” before being hit with charges.
Arrest records are never fully cleared. That shows up in background checks even if you are innocent.
Of course if Reade Seligmann was a Black man and his accuser a White woman, it would be “racist” to charge him without even questioning him first.
With Mike Nifong, all someone needs to do is make an accusation and the person they accuse is charged with a crime, no questions asked!
