Hip Hop Church in Harlem Speads the Message With a New Flavor

by @ 7:20 pm. Filed under The Truth Shall Set you Free!

Check out this AP video. I think Kurtis Blow has made a good move in founding this effort, to spread the gospel in a way many kids can relate to.

There is no mandate from Jesus that churches say “Amen” instead of “Word”. That’s all semantics. Some folks get caught up in that, when spreading the gospel is what really matters.

That’s awesome. Kurtis Blow is old school. I didn’t even know he was a Christian. I think it’s great when these artists use their influence to glorify God. Do you remember “Down with the King” from Run DMC? I love that song. And Pebbles is a minister here in Atlanta if I’m not mistaken. Of course, Al Green’s conversion was a very big deal back in the 70’s(?). Similarly, the drummer from Korn (metal band) accepted Christ, quit his band, and is really doing great things now.

    Anyway, thanks for this info.

Yes I’ve got “Down with the King” too :D . I almost wore a hole in that one playing it so much.

Several of the old schoolers have grown up and learned that Jesus is the best answer for today’s issues. I don’t know much about Korn, but I’m sure people into heavy metal can construct a message about Christ that can speak to people many other Christians would not be able to reach.

I think God’s hand is in this and the work is good.
