The Solution to Send Illegal Immigrants Back, Without “Rounding Them Up and Tossing Them Out”

I like the idea of rounding up every illegal immigrant in this nation and tossing them out of this country. I would not mind if the effort actually started right now. I hear some who are usually proponents of amnesty saying “that’s just not practical”. Well even if it is not practical, there is a method for ridding this nation of illegal immigrants, without rounding up a single one.

There is a reason that illegals here in Georgia are protesting proposed state laws that would deny them benefits, easy access to jobs and the ability to easily wire money home. They are protesting the recently passed bill sitting on Governor Sonny Purdue’s desk for signature, because they know it would hurt to live in this state under those conditions! I am certain that if this bill becomes law in the state of Georgia, that some illegals will tell their friends who are planning to enter the USA illegally “maybe you should try Florida or the Carolina’s”. Because they will naturally migrate to the areas offering the least resistance. If states or the Federal government make things difficult via the denial of services and more penalties against people employing illegals, they will set their sights to Canada. I’ve already detailed how Mexican President Vicente Fox is putting pressure on Canadian officials.

Ever since Ronald Reagan’s offer of amnesty, more illegals have continued to enter our country. Now there are new calls for forms of amnesty. These will only result in more of the same illegal activity. Which means in another 20 years there will be calls for yet another amnesty program and it will be even harder for America’s poor to find a job, when having to compete with people who sometimes live 20 to a house. (I’ve lived next to people living like that and I can tell you it is not sanitary!) This continued influx of illegals only plays into the hands of Liberals. Because it swells the size of the poor population in America and heats up the rhetoric of class warfare. Not to mention, many of the illegals are coming from nations that are far more Socialist than America.

Illegal entry into the United States must be curbed and ended. Illegals living in this country have to be denied privileges given to people in this nation legally. An immediate effort to turn up the heat on illegals will cause them to jump out of this melting pot called the USA and only attempt re-entry via legal means.

A portion of the inscription on a plaque at the base of the Statue of Liberty reads:

Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.

The golden door she speaks of led to the Immigration Station.

There was a time when everyone in America understood what these words meant. They meant, go to the immigration station there on Ellis Island and have yourself processed legally into the United States. It did not mean by-pass the statue, by-pass the island, by-pass the line and by-pass the paperwork. It meant stand in the line and fill out the paperwork required to become an American. This is why those immigrants processed at Ellis Island express far more American pride today, than those who enter illegally now. The illegals need to be shown, that you either enter this country legally or you won’t be granted any of the benefits of being an American.

On a peripherally-related note, I hate it when politicians ask how in the world our country is supposed to gather and send 11 million illegals out of the country. They make these stupid claims that it would take thousands of buses stretched for thousands of miles. Well, that’s a red herring of an argument. How did the illegals get here in the first place? They came on their own. If you fine employers severely and the jobs and opportunities for illegals dry up, they will also LEAVE ON THEIR OWN! It wouldn’t (nor does it have to) happen overnight. It took them a while to all get here and it would take them a while to go back. But they would go back. We would just have to make sure that the borders are one-way. Easy to go out and hard to get back in.

Sadly, I think this is a losing battle. Our gutless, worthless politicians don’t have the courage to do what needs to be done — FOLLOW THE LAWS! Twenty years ago, they passed an amnesty (and fines/crackdown) law and we had 3 million illegals. Now we have 11 million (I think it is MUCH more, though). Our stuped politicians are about to pass another amnesty law and I’m sure we will be discussing this again in twenty years. However, then we will be talking about 50 or 60 million or even more. And by that time, we’ll be a bi-lingual country who is being forced to honor Mexican holidays. And many of our policitians will be hispanic and they will be even more eager to open up our borders to all comers.

It just makes me angry and sick to think about it.

As I’ve always said, I’m all for immigration. But it has to be LEGAL immigration. And I have no patience or tolerance for those who don’t respect our laws.

The way I see it, this may be the last chance we have to avoid becoming the northern annex of Mexico.
