In this previous post I mentioned how a Christian in Afghanistan faces death for converting from Islam. Now that you are aware of the issue, it’s time to see what we can do to help. Michelle Malkin has more details and links.
All I have to say is, where is a loyal opposition party to the President when you need them? If the Democrats were not allowing so many Jesus haters to influence their party, John Kerry and Nancy Pelosi would be all over this. Russ Feingold would be asking to censure the President for allowing our troops to provide security in a nation with such laws. But there are matters that even the power hungry Bush hating Democrats won’t touch. They know to step too close to siding with a follower of Jesus might be a bad idea for their political careers. (It could work in their favor if they took a stand.) The bottom line is that principles don’t matter to politicians. After about their first 60 days on the job they are all about getting re-elected. But I think it’s time to make this an issue for everyone including President Bush. Because all these folks wanting our votes in November are going to be running into our churches, talking about how they pray and oh how they love Jesus. So let’s follow up with more than just the White House. See what your Congresspeople have to say about this. If a state can boycott Aruba for the life of Natalie Holloway as my state (GA) has done, then certainly this “Bible Belt” state and other states should stand for a Christian about to be executed for his faith. (No disrespect to Natalie Holloway intended.)
It’s time to make our voices heard everywhere we can make it known that we are aware of this issue and we won’t accept our nation being party to the so-called liberation of Afghanistan only to see Christians killed in the name of Islam.
So far the only major news sources I’ve found running this story are FoxNews, BBC News, ABC News and Tucker Carlson is talking about it on his MSNBC show tonight.
Oh look, the judge is saying that Islam is a “religion of tolerance”:
Afghan Faces Death Penalty for Converting to Christianity (page 2)

Can you say reprobate society? Tolerance is worshiping the way they tell you to. Of course this is not “tolerance”. It’s a common gang of thuggery!
The article continues:

One expert in Islamic law explains that Afghanistan’s penal code divides into two parts: the religious “huduud” dictated by the Koran and secular “ta’zir,” which is regulated by the state. Conversion to another religion is a crime under religious law, which takes precedence over the secular and more tolerant policy.Muslim converts to Christianity have been prosecuted in other countries ruled by Islamic law. Since 1996, high-profile apostasy cases have put Christian converts on the stand in countries that include Iran, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the Sudan.
The legal scholar, who asks to remain anonymous given the sensitivity of the topic, says, “It’s a fundamental tenet under Islam that conversion to another religion is a heinous act. It has a touch of treason ? there’s an aspect to it of betrayal against the communal identity.”

There is a possibility that Abdul Rahman could be declared “insane” and allowed to live. But even if he lives, what about the others that may be killed for accepting Jesus? This issue must get more attention and we must make it happen. If it means we end up doing less with some Muslim nations, then so be it. And I could care less if they are called an “ally in the war on terror”.
