Liberal Democrat Almost Slipped Honor for Advocate of Child Killing (Jane Fonda) By Georgia Senate

by @ 11:40 am. Filed under Nuts on Parade

Living in Georgia, there are some things that cause myself and some fellow Georgians embarrassment, to admit certain individuals share this state with us. One such individual we take no pride in is Jane Fonda. This woman has given aid and comfort to an enemy of America during a time of war.

And in a radio address in North Vietnam said things like:

In the shadow of the Temple of Literature I saw Vietnamese actors and actresses perform the second act of Arthur Miller’s play All My Sons, and this was very moving to me- the fact that artists here are translating and performing American plays while US imperialists are bombing their country.

I cherish the memory of the blushing militia girls on the roof of their factory, encouraging one of their sisters as she sang a song praising the blue sky of Vietnam- these women, who are so gentle and poetic, whose voices are so beautiful, but who, when American planes are bombing their city, become such good fighters.

And after 4,000 years of struggling against nature and foreign invaders- and the last 25 years, prior to the revolution, of struggling against French colonialism- I don’t think that the people of Vietnam are about to compromise in any way, shape or form about the freedom and independence of their country, and I think Richard Nixon would do well to read Vietnamese history, particularly their poetry, and particularly the poetry written by Ho Chi Minh.

Thanks in part to the efforts of people like Jane Fonda and John Kerry, Vietnam is still a Communist nation today. Instead of recognizing the Vietnamese fighting the Communists, Jane Fonda sided with the Communists. Instead of seeing how the USA could help a nation in need, Jane Fonda turned to the advocacy of communism and the teachings of Ho Chi Minh.

But I’m not even concerned about that right now, because there is a much greater ruse being pulled by one Georgia Democrat in our State Senate. Liberal Democratic State Senator Steen Miles tried to have the state honor Jane Fonda and claimed that Fonda has helped woman and children. When in reality, Jane Fonda’s efforts have helped to promote the murder of children around the world. Oh, but they call it “abortion”.

Georgia senator hits praise for Fonda

Democratic Sen. Steen Miles introduced a resolution recognizing the two-time Academy Award-winning actress for her efforts to help women and children globally, particularly her work as the founder and chairwoman of the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention.

Senate Resolution 1189 seemed to breeze through the Senate without a raising an eyebrow — as do hundreds of honorary and commemorative resolutions each year. There’s no vote on these types of quick resolutions, and lawmakers very rarely object to them.

But Sen. John Douglas, a retired Army major and Republican chairman of the Senate Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, stood as the Senate was adjourning and briefly voiced his strong opposition to the resolution.

Good for State Senator John Douglas, for actually reading what is voted on and standing up in opposition. The honor for Fonda was bundled with a stack of others, all passed with a single vote and most did not notice it. The State Senate decided to reconsider their vote. Here are some highlights from the resolution.

Georgia State Senate Resolution 1189

WHEREAS, Ms. Jane Fonda, a resident of Atlanta, Georgia, has touched countless lives with her compassion, generosity, and commitment to making the world a better place for generations to come; and

WHEREAS, today, Ms. Fonda devotes her time and talents to working for social change and is especially passionate about improving the lives of women and girls; and

WHEREAS, she is the founder and chairwoman of the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (G-CAPP), a state-wide effort to reduce the rates of teenage pregnancies in Georgia through community, youth, and family development, sustainable economic growth, and legislative advocacy; and

WHEREAS, her tremendous generosity has resulted in the Jane Fonda Center for Adolescent Reproductive Health at the Emory School of Medicine and has endowed the Marion Howard Chair in Adolescent Reproductive Health in the school’s Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics; and

WHEREAS, a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Population Fund, Ms. Fonda has diligently worked to forge a better future for women across the globe, and in 2000 traveled to Nigeria to produce a film in partnership with the International Women’s Health Coalition, entitled “Generation 2000: Changing Girls’ Realities”; and

WHEREAS, Georgia is very fortunate to be the home of such an extraordinary lady.

Let’s review some of those statements.

She did not show US Troops much “compassion” by giving aid and comfort to their enemy during a time of war. In her efforts to “improve the lives of women” she has advocated people being able to kill their own babies and sees it as a “right”. The Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (G-CAPP) offers counseling and education on one hand, but on the other is a full defender and promoter of child killing. The site’s links page includes one to America’s biggest advocate of child killing – Planned Parenthood.

The organization fully advocates giving children contraception behind their parents’ backs.

From, G-CAPP’s CORE PRINCIPLES (emphasis added)

Adolescent sexuality education should instill a strong sense of self-worth and be delivered by parents at home and other adults in school and community settings. Abstinence education is important, but by 12th grade 62% of all students have had sex and more than 3 out of 10 girls get pregnant at least once as a teen. Research suggests that helping adolescents postpone sex while equipping sexually active youth with medical information and contraception on a confidential basis is the best strategy to reduce pregnancy, abortion, STDs and HIV/AIDS.

And here are some Liberal thoughts on the history of the organization, direct from Jane Fonda herself.

From Origins of G-CAPP by Jane Fonda

Alongside our community-based work, statewide advocacy is a central part of what we do. We are a campaign after all. You can be doing extraordinary work at the community level and then look over your shoulder one day to find that a minor?s right to confidential access to clinics or comprehensive sexuality education or funding for after school programs have been taken away. Voter education and mobilization is critical to countering the efforts of those who think the “just say no” message is effective for all adolescents. On a proactive level, G-CAPP hopes to institutionalize through policy the models that have proven effective in the field.

Although abstinence is 100% effective against STDs and premarital pregnancy, Jane Fonda mocks anyone that stands firm on the principle.

The Jane Fonda Center for Adolescent Reproductive Health promotes “reproductive rights”. Which means they advocate women being able to kill children in the womb.

They even have an event coming up that probably will promote that message.

Senator Miles withdrew her resolution! The attention was too much and she has backed down! That’s why I love living here. Liberal mess like this is cut down quick!

Bill to Honor Jane Fonda Withdrawn

ATLANTA (AP) — The sponsor of an effort to honor Jane Fonda in the state Senate withdrew her resolution Thursday, after a rocky reception from some colleagues and a phone call from the actress’ office.

Sen. Steen Miles, D-Decatur, said a representative for Fonda, who is out of the country, asked that she avoid the controversy the effort had stirred.

The Senate voted 48-1 to reconsider the measure — a necessary procedure before Miles could withdraw it. Sen. Michael Meyer von Bremen, D-Albany, cast the only vote against reconsideration.

Another happy day in Georgia!

update (3/16/2006 9:12PM ET):
After Senator Miles tried to pull the bill, Senate Republicans forced a vote, because they wanted their opposition on record. I can’t blame them.

Georgia Senate defeats Fonda resolution

The Democratic sponsor had tried to withdraw the resolution after a rocky reception from colleagues and a phone call from Fonda’s office, but a Republican leader forced a vote, saying members of his caucus wanted to go on record against it.

The effort was defeated 38-1, with even Miles voting against it.

“I can think of no living American who is less worthy of this honor,” Republican Sen. John Douglas declared. “She is as guilty of treason as Benedict Arnold and Tokyo Rose.”

One idiot Democrat has helped make a name for State Senator John Douglas. Which means the Republicans now have one more politician that could probably run for state office in the future and win. (Depending on the post and some of his other views I’d have no problem voting for him myself.)

This is not the first time Senator Miles has introduced a wacky bill. Look what she did in response to efforts to allow pharmacists to refuse to give abortion pills.

Senators pass abortion-related bills (emphasis added)

The second measure would allow pharmacists to opt out of filling prescriptions for drugs designed to end pregnancies if they object on moral or religious grounds. They would have to file a written statement to take advantage of the offer.
While the bill didn?t stir any vocal opposition, senators defeated an amendment that would have extended the provision to sexual performance enhancement drugs like Viagra.
Sen. Steen Miles, D-Decatur, said the drugs have caused heart attacks in some men and that pharmacists should have the right to object not just to certain drugs for women but to drugs that are for men.
?What is good for the goose is certainly good for the gander,?? she said.

Obviously she really did not care about the health of men who use Viagra. She is upset something her and Jane Fonda stand for is about to be compromised – baby killing at will.

What was Steen Miles before she became a State Senator? She was a member of the Liberal Media. She also was spokeswoman for Atlanta’s mass transit system. I can’t say she makes for a good State Senator, but it looks like she probably can make a good set of salmon patties :D .
