Crack Rocks in the Diaper

by @ 5:26 pm. Filed under Nuts on Parade

I’ll comment afterwards, but read this:

Cocaine Found in Baby’s Diaper (video report included)

Changing diapers is usually a routine part of the day in child care, but it was anything but routine for a worker at an Athens day care center. After changing a toddler’s diaper on Wednesday morning, she called police.

According to Athens-Clarke County Police Lieutenant Mike Hunsinger, what the worker found is now the subject of a criminal investigation.

?During the process of a regular changing of the baby?s diaper, she described hearing something fall out of the child?s diaper onto the changing table. When she inspected it, she recognized what she though might be illegal drugs,? Hunsinger said.

A field test confirmed the worker?s suspicion — two rocks of crack cocaine fell out of the baby’s diaper.

The toddler?s mother is cooperating with the investigation. Police are still looking to talk with the child?s father.

Athens Clarke County police say DFACS is allowing the toddler to stay with her mother pending the outcome of the investigation.

To me this one is just too crazy and nutty. A child has crack rocks in their diaper! I’m a bit surprised the child was allowed to go home. Georgia’s Department of Family and Children Services (aka DFACS or DFCS) has received various forms of criticism, as any group dealing with abused children does. They better not have made the wrong call in allowing this child to return home, or they will be sure to get slammed again and they get slammed often. No matter the administration (Republican or Democrat) this group has been the target of lots of criticism. And it will be sure to be a campaign issue if this case is not handled well.
