Even the Pope Comes to the Defense of Islam

by @ 5:25 pm. Filed under Questionable Items, Terrorism and War

I’m no Catholic, but being a Christian this one is simply amazing to me. Given Christ taught that no other god is to be put before the Father and the way to him is via himself (Christ). So I expect my fellow Christians to promote our faith first and avoid being “ecumenical”. What can I say, I’m a bigot for Jesus.

So some supposed protesters of the Mohammad cartoons claim they will join al Qaeda if someone offends Mohammad again.

Afghan cartoon protesters threaten to join al Qaeda

JALALABAD, Afghanistan (Reuters) – Hundreds of Afghan students shouted support on Monday for Osama bin Laden and threatened to join al Qaeda during a protest against cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad.

“If they abuse the Prophet of Islam again we will all become al Qaeda,” the students shouted.

These students are full of it. Because if they would join in the future, then they’ve always embraced the terrorists. Those who hated al Qaeda would never want to join them, given the terror al Qaeda condoned in Afghanistan, when it was totally ruled by the Taliban. So these students are the ones that always loved bin Laden and are the type that were cheering on 9/11. For them to claim they would join al Qaeda means nothing. Because they’ve always loved bin Laden.

But what is more surprising to me is the response from the Pope.

In a speech to the new Moroccan ambassador to the Vatican, the Pope said: “In order to promote peace and understanding between peoples and mankind it is both vital and urgent that religions and their symbols are respected and that believers are not the object of provocations that wound their religious feelings.”

“However, intolerance and violence can never be justified as a response to any offence, because it is a response that is incompatible with the sacred principles of religion,” he added.

Not trying to step on the toes of any of my Christian brothers and sisters who practice Catholicism under the Pope, but I think he should have kept those comments to a private session. For the Pope to publicly use the word “respect” regarding the symbols of other false faiths just does not sit well with me. I can understand not wanting to intentionally offend anyone. True we want to win souls for Christ and so we don’t want to try doing that via intentionally pissing everyone off. And while we must be tolerant of other faiths I would not use the term “respect” when it comes to false gods. Yea Muslims say they worship the same “god” as Christians, but GOD does not see his son Jesus as a mere prophet! So they are not worshiping my GOD and they have the right to pick any god they wish. Muslims viewing the core symbol of my faith (Christ) as less than the one all power has been given to, who sits at the right had of the Father and is God in flesh offends me. But I don’t want to kill a Muslim for not respecting my Lord and savior.

Also the Pope mentioned “the sacred principles of religion”. Maybe for OUR religion, but obviously it is not true for THEIR (Radicals) religion. THEIR religion allows them to kill and take as they see fit. THEIR religion allows them to kill other Muslims that try to work with Jews and Christians. Which is why they want to kill Afgan President Hamid Karzai. This is all similar to how the Klan’s religion allows them to see superiority based on skin-tone. So what is sacred differs for everyone and the religion of radicals is one that would behead the Pope if they had the opportunity. Maybe it’s just me, but I promote Christ and expect ministers of the Christian faith to do the same. So if we Christians are talking about killing over cartoons being wrong, than we have only our faith to reference. To try and use the term “the sacred principles of religion” goes way too far into the ecumenical space for me. It gives the view we all serve the same god and simply do it via different forms. In my opinion, that gives legitimacy to false gods.

It is time to accept the fact that Islamic Radicals follow their own branch of faith, that has proven to be incompatible with the rest of the world. Because that is what is really factual here. And it is time to accept the enemy as an enemy and deal with the enemy appropriately. To continually try and appease this enemy has a long history of failure. Given the history of the Catholic church and having to deal with Islamist Radicals over the centuries, I would expect Catholics and Jews to know this fact better than most others.

Oh, and the radicals still hate Bush, America and all that is Western. What else is new…

The protest in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad passed off without violence. Students gathered at the university campus chanted “Death to Denmark”, “Death to America” and “Death to France”, a witness said.

Pakistan’s main Islamist alliance, the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), said on Monday it would broaden its campaign. Five people died in protests in Pakistan last week.

Qazi Hussain Ahmed, president of the MMA, was held under house arrest in Lahore at the weekend to prevent him leading a rally in the capital Islamabad on Sunday.

After his release on Monday he called publication of the cartoons in European newspapers “part of the clash of civilizations led by (U.S. President George W.) Bush”.

“Therefore our movement is against Bush as well as against Mush,” he told a news briefing, referring to Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf, a key ally in Bush’s war on terrorism.

We can better work to rid ourselves of this enemy once we all agree that we actually have an enemy.
