Mr. President, Stop the Port Deal Now!

by @ 1:38 pm. Filed under Terrorism and War

If you have not already heard, management of several of America’s ports could be turned over to a nation with strong terrorist ties.

Lawmakers Urge Greater Review of UAE Firm’s Deal to Run Six U.S. Ports

Currently, London-based Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Co., the fourth largest port operator in the world, runs the six ports. But the $6.8 million sale of P&O to UAE-owned Dubai Ports World (DPW) would effectively turn over North American operations to the government-owned company in Dubai.

If the approval is unchallenged, Dubai Ports World would run the ports of New York, New Jersey, Baltimore, New Orleans, Miami and Philadelphia.

Why stop a sale to a company owned by the United Arab Emirates? Michelle Malkin has all the reasons why. She has also gathered a round-up of reaction from various sources.

Some Congressmen have asked for a review of the sale in this letter. This is not something that needs a “review”. It needs to be ended! This deal simply should not be allowed to proceed. The UAE has way too many close ties to terrorists. To allow them to run our ports would be a literal case of the fox guarding the hen house.

Americans have to speak out against this deal. President George W. Bush, stop this sale!
