For English See the Fine Print!

by @ 7:36 am. Filed under Illegal Aliens, Questionable Items

Circus Sign When visiting my local US Post Office today I noticed a sign for the circus. Upon further inspection, I was surprised at the sign’s content. Because the LARGE PRINT of the sign was in Spanish. I’ve included a picture of the sign in this post. If you can’t read Spanish, the English translation in the fine print below “AHORRA 50%” reads “Save 50%”. Most visitors to my local US Post Office speak English as their first language. Although there is a large Latino population in the county, they do not represent a majority of the customers at my local US Post Office. There was more than one of these signs in the US Post Office and all had Spanish in the LARGE PRINT, English in the fine print.

So one has to wonder who is being catered to? This US Post Office, that is subsidized with my tax dollars certainly is not catering to US American natives. Both the US Postal Service and the circus are catering to the Spanish speaking immigrants. I have no problems with legal immigrants, but let’s be honest, the high number of Spanish speaking people is a direct result of a high influx of illegal immigrants into our area. And even if every Spanish speaking immigrant in my county were a legal immigrant it would make more sense to ensure they assimilate to the language of the town. I would expect a business subsidized with my tax dollars to ensure that was the case. Here in the state of Georgia, by law English is the official language of the state. It would be nice to see signs that use the state’s official language in large print. Especially in areas where the majority of the customers speak the state’s official language - English.
