Listening to Hannity’s radio show now and he just mentioned to a caller who is an Independent Conservative in the state of Connecticut, that he has changed his party affiliation from the Republican Party back to the Conservative Party.
I think this is an interesting development. Will this mean that next time there is a situation where someone like Tom McClintock is running against a “star” Republican like Arnold Schwarzenegger, that he will support the real conservative candidate? Because although he never “officially” endorsed Schwarzenegger, everybody realized that he favored Schwarzenegger, for the sake of a Republican winning. It was a play for his (former) party at it’s best. Hannity did not feel that the real conservative Tom McClintock would be able to win. And so he favored Schwarzenegger in his talking about the race, but continued to say “I like them both, I’m not endorsing anyone”. But he had no problem asking McClintock to quit the race. Tom refused! This is why I agree with people like Michael Savage when they call Sean Pawn Hannity.
Also Hannity attacked the Conservative Republican Commissioner of Mecklenburg, North Carolina Bill James. Because Commissioner James created a 14 Point Plan to try and help foster good morals and values in his district’s Black community. Hannity was very short sighted and fell for the attacks from Mr. James’ detractors who were Democratic Liberals. They did not want a Conservative Republican to try and address issues in his own district. Hannity went after Mr. James for having a “race specific” plan. But in Mr. James’ district the people having the problems that Mr. James is trying to address are all Black. So while Mr. James did not “have to” mention race, the fact is that the issues he is trying to address are endemic to common Black culture in his district. Please read his plan. You probably saw him getting blasted on TV and did not get the full details. Once you see the plan, you realize it is 100% Conservative and should be supported. To me that was an example of Pawn Hannity playing to the powers of Political Correctness.
So with Pawn Sean Hannity changing to the Conservative Party in his state and saying today on his show:

Is HE going to be more true to being Conservative? I guess we will see. He says that he joined the Republican Party so that he could vote in primary races in his state. I’ve lived in states with similar primary voting guidelines and being an Independent Conservative I refused to join a party. I just had to wait till the general election in those states to cast my vote. I am happy that Georgia has open primaries and anyone can vote in any primary they want to vote in. I don’t have to sign on with any party.
I hope that Sean’s change helps him stick closer to the Conservative values he claims to endorse.
update (2/9/2006 12:29PM ET): Also during yesterday’s show, Hannity mentioned this about the Republicans of his state:

I don’t think he’ll be getting invites to the big GOP events!
