There Will Be an Up or Down Vote on Samuel Alito

by @ 5:55 pm. Filed under Judiciary, The Truth Shall Set you Free!

Alito Democratic attempts to run a filibuster on the vote for Samuel Alito have been defeated. David Kopel reports that the filibuster attempt was busted by a vote of 72-25.

In other Alito related news, Liberal Republican Senator for Rhode Island Lincoln Chafee says he will vote against Alito, although he did not support a filibuster.

Chafee says he will vote against Alito

U-S Senator Lincoln Chafee says he will vote against Judge Samuel Alito for the U-S Supreme Court. He’s the first Republican to say he’ll reject President Bush’s nominee.

Chafee also says he’ll vote against a filibuster on the nomination. Republicans say they have enough votes for the nominee without Chafee.

Chafee called himself a “pro-choice, pro-environment, pro-Bill of Rights Republican.”

Chafee’s decision could have ramifications on his reelection bid. Cranston Mayor Stephen Laffey, who’s challenging Chafee in the Republican primary this year, says he would vote to confirm Alito.

I hope Senator Chafee is defeated in his party’s next primary election.

Expose the Left, the blog formerly known as The Political Teen has video of Senator Edward (I lost her in the lake) Kennedy having a COW over Samuel Alito. Senator Kennedy, nobody likes an angry drunk!

Do you have any concern at all that Black people will lose “civil rights” if Judge Alito is put on the Supreme Court?

    Dump Chafee, Laffey for Senate

I rarely concern myself with Congressional races outside of Idaho, but I’m making an exception in wading into the Rhode Island Senate Race.

Ron B, don’t you mean “silver rights” :) ? Cause that’s about the only thing race hustlers stand to lose. The silver rights they claim are giving Black people some benefit.
