Another story I started to cover while guest posting at La Shawn Barber’s blog, was the case of a girl attending a private Christian school that was expelled for violating that school’s rules. Jessica Bradley and her father (Ron) sued Covenant Christian Academy for $1 million. Initially it appeared the case centered around the girl kissing another female student and having a relationship with another. Just the other day the school mentioned that Jessica admitted to them that she had a “sexual relationship” with another female. This raised the stakes a bit, because initial reports centered around there being a “kiss”.
School: Expelled Girl Admitted Sexual Relationship

Well now the case has been dropped:

The Bradley’s must have realized that not only did they have no case, but plenty more information was becoming public that would erode any public support they might have had.
The bottom line is that private schools are called private for a reason. It means you check your “public school” rights to get away with all kinds of dirt at the door and you must accept the rules of the private institution. A Christian private school is going to have rules that enforce Christian principles, as they should. Anyone violating the rules might destabilize the learning environment and is rightfully removed. The school looked into things and felt it was best to kick Jessica out. They asked the other girl involved to withdraw. Their rules specify that students are not to have any inappropriate relationships with other students.
It is apparent to me that Jessica and her father are not remorseful about her actions, given their lawsuit in part sought to prohibit the school from enforcing rules against “sexual immorality”. Also Jessica has denied that her actions violated school rules. Jessica and her father should at least admit that such activity is sinful and an obvious violation of the school’s rules. Even if she had been with a man it would have been just as wrong. Sexual relations are for one man and one woman who are married.
