Coretta Scott King Appears at Salute to Greatness Dinner

To the surprise of everyone at primary fundraising event for the King Center for Nonviolent Social Change last night, Coretta Scott King showed up and was all smiles!

Coretta Scott King Appears at Gala

The widow of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. made her first public appearance Saturday night since suffering a stroke this summer.

Coretta Scott King su[r]prised hundreds who attended the annual Salute to Greatness Dinner when she appeared on stage with members of her family.

The link above also has video of her at the event. She was able to stand after getting a little assistance to get out of her chair. She then took some photos with family members and you could tell from her facial expressions that she is fully alert. After sitting back down, she was giving people hugs with her left arm, speaking to them and all smiles.

Regardless of the fact I don’t agree with her on a lot of political matters, I still wish her good health. I am glad she is recovering.

Today would be Dr. King’s 77th birthday.

Coretta Scott King Has Passed Away

Just a little over 2 weeks ago I mentioned here that she was starting to show signs of recovering from a stroke. But I guess it was her time to go. She apparently died in her sleep, given her daughter Bernice King was unable to wake her this morning…
