Shay over at Booker Rising has written an Op-ed that is best read in full. I think she makes an excellent point.

Actually they have had their own “Arab Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.”. His name was Anwar al-Sadat. And the radical Islamists that now use the brand Al-Qaeda, were some of the same ones associated with his murder.

These kinds of killings have occurred in the USA, although Black Radicals never got MLK. Like when Dr. Marcus Foster (first Black superintendent of Oakland, CA public schools) was murdered by the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA). Because he was in favor of photo ID cards for Oakland school students. Not to mention fighting between Black radical groups in the 60s. Those days are past, but history does often repeat it’s self and if left unchecked it could happen again sooner rather than later. The success of Blacks in Civil Rights came about because of people who wanted to work within the confines of the law. No matter the effort, those who work within the rule of law have always been most effective in bringing about change. The radicals that try to work outside of the rule of law have proven they do far more damage to their own efforts than good. (Well I should say, what they would consider to be “good”.)

Now back to the cries of “occupation” in the Middle East. I don’t think Israel should give back a thing and that they’ve already given up way too much. I do hope Israel’s Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is able to recover, despite my disagreement with him giving up land in places like Gaza.

So if Arabs want Israel to give up anything more, I say YOU FIRST.
