Blog Booker Rising has an excellent proposal from Ted Hayes.
“I propose that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, rather than unequivocally deciding to save Stanley Tookie Williams or send the convicted murderer to his death next week, instead conditionally postpone his execution.The governor should then immediately convene a summit, including not only clergy, grass-roots leaders and elected representatives such as Maxine Waters and Diane Watson, but also current and former Bloods and Crips. The deal: He will spare Williams’ life, but only as long as these leaders can keep young black men from killing each other. In other words, for every 30 days of peace, Tookie receives a stay of execution. Should there be any gang-related killings in L.A., Tookie’s fate will be sealed — not by the governor but by the young men who have been clamoring that Williams be spared and the leaders who say they are determined to save black lives. (And those leaders should be the ones to set the murder-acceptability level — at zero tolerance or massacre levels; let it be up to them.). This is an opportunity to (1) empower young blacks to play a role in saving one of their own; (2) educate them on the role of nonviolent solutions to societal problems; (3) let African American leaders step up and do what they’re always talking about — saving children and healing the brokenness in our community. ” — Ted Hayes, Los Angeles social activist and conservative Republican

I think it is an excellent proposal. I’m all for it!
But until this proposal is carried out, I still say: YES, Tookie it’s time to DIE!!!

Thanks for staying on top of this. Tookie should pay his debt to society. Much of the debate centers aorund whether or not he would be more beneficial for the country if he were to live. Why didnt Tookie-coms think of that while he was ending the lives of the 3 people whose human potential was just as great?
What “good” could he do in prison? Where’s the proof and evidence he has turned **anybody’s life around?
Why does Tookie deserve special treatment and not all the other death row inmates around the country?
The libbies love to latch on to black social pawns, whip it up and play it against the “racist white establisment”, who by the way, is them. This is a very unfunny circus.
Tookie is nothing more than a liberal rallying cry, a prop dummy who like Cindy Sheehan is trying to milk his last 15 minutes for all its worth.
I think Gov Terminator should listen to Ted Hayes, and take the black talking heads to task.
Tookie, a message from DL Foster: Get your house in order and go see the Man! We are tired of this travesty of justice.

All this attention Hollywood pays to killers like Tookie simpky reinforce the notion that bad behavior is lauded…good behavior is ignored. No wonder so many of our children embrace the prison culture.
