The time the troops left, that some people forget!

by @ 1:30 am. Filed under The Truth Shall Set you Free!

There has been talk of past instances when US troops left an area too soon. But The Cultural Strategist raises one such instance that many may not be aware of.

The Last Time The Union Troops Pulled Out

The Confederates upon seeing the slow rise of the Black man had realized that they could not continue to sit out the process of governing their lands. They saw the need to reengage in the process of governance and law enforcement in the lands that they once ruled. They agreed to take vows of loyalty to the United States as a condition of being readmitted into the Union.

The centerpiece to their strategy, however, was the need to remove the Union Troops from their lands so that they can return to power and do as they please absent any countervailing force to stop them.

The contested presidential election of 1876 proved to be the key point of inflection for them to achieve their goals. The Republicans wanted the presidency of the United States more than they sought to protect the civil and human rights of the United States. In the compromise that was reached with the Democratic Party it was agreed that the US presidency would be yield to the Republican Rutherford B. Hayes in exchange for the removal of the Union Troops from Southern lands.

You just have to read that entire post. (Keep in mind that the Democrats were the party of slavery and the Republicans were the party of the abolitionists.) It is a true testament to how far America has come, that those days are behind this nation. But the troop pullout made things a lot more painful along the way. And given the enemy in Iraq, it is clear that they would do more than just make a transition without US Troops painful. They are sure to make it impossible, if US Troops left. Given the affairs in Iraq are taking place in a totally separate nation, unlike America’s Civil War where everything happened within this nation, so it was easier to continue efforts for change. US Troops must stay till the job is done. We must listen to our commanders on the ground, who see the day to day changes.

I think this is also a good time for me to mention, that I am no fan at all of things like Confederate flags. While some who embrace the symbol today are not fully aware of the history, it is very much on par with the Nazi Swastika! All flags of the Confederacy (there is more than one) are symbols of the government that embraced Black slavery and several member states saw Blacks as less than human. (See their letters of secession.) I am sure that at some point in the future I will be offering a more detailed post about this, but I don’t want to sidebar here.

The Iraqis have seen us leave once before when the Kurds were gassed. We should not leave them hanging again! And if we do leave them hanging twice, we are certain to make an enemy out of the folks who are helping our troops now.

I am always amazed by Black politicians that press President Bush to have US Troops engage in issues in African countries for the good of “the people”. But when “the people” don’t look like them, those same politicians often change their tune and claim that their actions of wanting US Troops to leave an area like Iraq is for “the troops”. The Troops want to finish their mission as defined by their Commander in Chief!

This past Martin Luther King Day The Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) gave out honors as they do annually. But one particular invited guest has caused the Lefty spin machines to spew some vicious race-bait, towards an organization run by Black Cons…
