I’m wondering why any self respecting Conservative ever would care about this at all! It seems many bloggers are bringing up The Weblog Awards and making direct or indirect suggestions that you vote for them. I’m only making this post because I’m hoping to inspire my fellow Conservative bloggers to stand by true Conservative values.
We (true) Conservatives spend plenty of time speaking of how we don’t wish to see special preferences for various groups. One of those groups being gays and the various assortments of the term. So I have no clue why any self respecting Conservative blogger would wish to be associated with an awards body that gives special recognition to gay blogs, via a special award just for them. Personally I don’t want any parts of it! If you like my blog, great! But I don’t need any recognition from obviously Liberal serving awards bodies, that go so far as to give a special award to blogs that recognize activity that is purely sinful.
I ask my fellow Conservative bloggers that promote the Weblog Awards to check their values. Think of what you are promoting! Sure they have a Conservative and a Religious blog category, but this bunch is obviously a Liberal outfit, playing into an agenda that is counter to good family values. Would you want your children (if you have children) going to that site after you get your pretty award and wondering what LGBT means, only to stumble upon the most highly respected gay blog of the year? We spend plenty of time promoting Judeo-Christian values. We try and link to like minded blogs, to promote good Conservative values. Only linking to sites/blogs that do not promote good values when we wish to point out a problem! I know it would be VERY difficult to separate from association with everything that plays into the gay agenda. But to me this one is just too obvious and too optional to even consider.
In the spirit of true Conservatism, I think Conservatives should create an award or set of awards that is separate from the Weblog Awards.
