Michelle Malkin is covering the latest deal struck between South African President Thabo Mbeki and Robert Mugabe.
I agree with her thoughts on this matter 100%:
Next up for South Africa: deals with North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela and Iran?
At this point, I defy anyone to tell me how Mbeki’s policies are ANY better than what existed under Apartheid? In both cases, Africans are needlessly suffering and dying, all to protect corrupt rulers.
Is it time to recall diplomats from South Africa? Or reimpose sanctions? More? Possibly.

The Bush Administration has always taken a hard line with Zimbabwe. See: Rice names Zimbabwe in ‘outposts of tyranny’ list. Can’t say I’m a big fan of the deal she cut with Israel and the Palestinians, but she does recognize how terrible an individual Robert Mugabe is. He violated all land reform agreements and even went against a vote of the people in Zimbabwe, to not use force to redistribute land. Sadly some still love this man, but some still love tyrants like Che Guevara too
!
Mbeki has always gone way too soft on Mugabe. Does he think “trade and aid” will change Mugabe? I think the same thing when I look as what our President is doing in China right now!
A Chinese crackdown on dissidents before Bush arrived dismayed U.S. officials, and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said the U.S. side would continue to raise the issue “quite vociferously with the Chinese government.”
She also expressed disappointment with China’s response to a U.S. request in September for action on specific human rights cases – a list Bush described bluntly as “dissidents that we believe are unfairly imprisoned.”
“We’ve certainly not seen the progress that we would expect,” Rice said.

China’s massive trade surplus is a political headache for Bush. As the president opened his visit, U.S. officials spread word that Beijing was buying 70 737 planes from Chicago-based Boeing Co. (BA)
The administration said the purchase was “a testament to how our approach to China is yielding real results.” But in a joint appearance with Hu, Bush said China needs to do more to provide fair opportunities for American farmers and businesses seeking access to China’s market. Later, Bush specifically cited a desire to sell U.S. beef in China.

Mugabe + uranium = BAD!
While strolling in his backyard one sunny day in Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe was thinking of how to offer energy to his people after enacting policies that destroyed the nation’s economy. And he stumbled upon URANIUM!
