Wondering when Howard Dean will say something stupid is like wondering when Howard Dean will open his mouth next! And of course he is never one to avoid a race based attack! Today on NBC’s Meet The Press, DNC Chairman Howard Dean claimed that he disliked such attacks being made against Michael Steele, then he made yet another race based attack himself! You can get the full transcript here. The Political Teen has video of the first part of the interview.
Show host Tim Russert asked Howard Dean about Democrats making race based attacks against Michael Steele and illegally acquiring a copy of his credit report.
|
He was going to ask Howard Dean if he would condemn such actions and Howard Dean quickly responded by saying:
|
So first he says he does not like that “stuff”, then he went on to claim that the perpetrators “may or may not have”…
Mr. Russert had to remind Mr. Dean that the known perpetrators in the credit report scandal were dismissed. Then Mr. Dean fully conceded the action was inappropriate.
|
After hearing that, one would have hoped that Mr. Dean was going to turn away from his old tactic. Of playing on race and trying to act as if Republicans are out to tear Black people down more than anything done by the Democrats. Oh but Mr. Dean dashed any such hopes later in the interview and made a race based attack himself! He fully asserted that Republicans want to keep a Black man out of law school! And I must say that his statement sounded very planned and canned! He said:
|
A race based attack and bold faced lie all in one shot! Obviously, this is why Howard Dean did not want to be on the air with RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman. He knew if Ken was there, that he would have quickly knocked down this lie and identified it as a cheap piece of race bait!
Let’s review a little of Howard Dean’s record on matters of race:
Being a Black man myself, I must say that Howard Dean has done a great job of turning my stomach!
Also during the interview he was asked if the Democrats have any specific plans for major issues facing Americans. Howard Dean responded:
|
I think it’s time for Howard Dean to stop giving anything, including his opinion!
update (11/13/2005 9:30PM ET): Drudge is reporting that Mehlman made a personal last minute request to Dean to do a head-to-head and Dean declined.
