Schumer : Samuel Alito does not believe in Constitutional “originalism”

When Chucky says positive things about someone I just have to look at them a little more cautiously!

Supreme Court nominee Samuel A. Alito Jr. has been doing the rounds with Senators and after his meeting with NY Senator Charles “Chucky” Schumer, the Senator said the following:

Top Democrats say Alito likely to get nod

Mr. Schumer said the meeting was “very, very enjoyable”

Mr. Schumer also said that the judge told him he did not believe in “originalism,” a stance common among conservatives that the Constitution means what it originally was understood as meaning.
“Principles are applied differently in different times,” noted Mr. Schumer, saying he was loosely quoting Judge Alito. “I found that to be a positive thing that he said.”

While I still stand by my original position that Sam Alito should be confirmed, this does cause me a level of concern!
