If Bush does it then it is called “racist”, but when Blanco does it….

by @ 4:17 pm. Filed under Questionable Items

Some of Louisiana’s Black lawmakers are questioning the constitutionality of Governor Kathleen Blanco’s budget cuts. When Bush makes cuts there are always cries of Bush being mean to Blacks, regardless of how “constitutional” anyone thinks the cuts are. Now who will cry that Governor Blanco does not like Black people? The fact that nobody will label Blanco a racist exposes the double standard applied by Liberal Blacks. Democrats like Blanco can cut where ever she wants. There might be complaints, but everyone accepts that she has good intentions. When Republicans make cuts they are immediately labeled “racists”. There is no analysis of how well intentioned the effort is. Just immediate attacks on the basis of race!

Black lawmakers say Blanco’s budget cuts were unconstitutional

Louisiana’s black lawmakers filed a lawsuit against Gov. Kathleen Blanco on Wednesday, saying she exceeded her constitutional authority by making deep budget cuts without legislative approval.

The move amplifies tension in the wrangling between lawmakers and the Blanco administration over how to cope with a nearly $1 billion deficit in the state’s operating budget caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Blanco cut $431 million from state agencies by executive order Saturday.

The Governor’s budget cuts, no doubt well meaning, are without basis in law and are thus without effect,” Sen. Cleo Fields, D-Baton Rouge, lawyer for the black caucus, wrote in the court documents.

Notice the kid gloves that are used in the assertions! Liberals define racism by the effect and not the intentions.

They know who is going to be affected by the cuts:

“We’re just very concerned about balancing this budget on the backs of the poor people and the backs of those who were displaced,” said Rep. Cedric Richmond, D-New Orleans, chairman of the caucus.

But unlike with lawsuits against Republicans regarding things like say changes to voting laws, they withhold any racial charges.

But Richmond and Fields said the lawsuit wasn’t filed against the governor because the caucus was unhappy with the types of budget cuts or with specific reductions _ which Blanco doled across state agencies, with slashing to health care, education and pet projects for legislators.

Fields acknowledged lawmakers simply could reverse Blanco’s cuts and start reworking the budget from scratch.

So another case of the double standards will be exposed. Because there will not be any marches by Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton over this. There will be no cries of racism! You want to guess what would happen if Blanco was a Republican? I’m sure they’d already be building protest signs!

This is the double standard of the political Left in matters involving race.

My friend over at A Black Conservative Perspective offers the real deal and pulls no punches regarding Blacks who like to “Blame Bush”.

“Bush is the cause of all of this”
All of what? Since Mr. Bush won the election the last time, the liberal negro has been pissed off at Mr. Bush’s win, and have tried ,(very unsuccessfully), to blame the president for any, and everything. It is by his nature, and stupidity, the negro loves the Democrat Party so much. Frankly, there’s not much difference between the two, but you wouldn’t think that if you listened to some negroes! With leaders like Jesse Jackson, and Julian Bond, one might expect this blame game that they’re playing, but I only wonder how can an educated negro believe all of this rhetoric? Some negroes are still stuck back in the sixties, expecting another “program” to come forth and save them, but this is NOT going to happen! The only options left, is for the negro to uplift himself, by correcting all of the prevelant ills in his community, thus giving hope to those that have been brainwashed into a state of failure.
