When a Black Democrat goes from rags to riches he is hailed as a success story. When done by a Conservative LOOK OUT! For the Black Conservative opting to credit his own hard work for his success. Then saying others can do the same without government, he is maligned and many who do so are often Black themselves!

The rhetoric of the political Left by definition implies that one must promote and embrace government programs to be authentically “Black”. While many of America’s Black success stories are Conservatives, attempts are made to strip them of their connection with their own race. In a recent column Cal Thomas accurately identifies this issue in relation to Maryland US Senate candidate Michael Steele.

I highly recommend reading the entire opinion piece. Cal is a Conservative that pulls no punches and has never been afraid to stand for good values. While he is a Republican I have found that he has no problem endorsing Conservative efforts even if they come from a Democrat.

Michael Steele is an American success story! He is a great example of how hard work can pay off, without looking to government for sustenance! The attempts to attack his views on how to obtain success are actually helping his campaign more than hurting it. It has alerted people across the nation to a man that is again fighting against the odds to do achieve something great. Once a man Mr. Steele is running against was viewed as the man who made something great of his life despite the odds. Kweisi Mfume was hailed for turning his life from negative to positive and his story even helped him to be elected to Congress. It was viewed a a great success. And nobody dares question that Kweisi Mfume is “Black”. But a man like Mr. Steele also came up from poverty. No he did not make a bunch of children out of wedlock. No he was never a street hustler! He’s just a man who worked hard and has been telling the world how he did it! It is a shame that some are allowing his party affiliation to turn them away from him.

Fight on Man of Steele, fight on!

Now here is why I say “Black success is only considered advancement when done by a Liberal!”. Because the organization that Mr. Mfume was once the President of has said it themselves! It has come from his own mouth! Mr. Mfume has said of Black Conservatives:

This from the man who was President of an organization that labels it’s self The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) .

It is ironically sad that these two men, Mfume and Steele could both grow up in the exact same city, but one feels that the other must say what he wants to hear or that one (Mfume) will label the other (Steele) a puppet! Conversely, if Mr. Steele said what Mfume would like him to say, then wouldn’t that make Mr. Steele a true puppet? It would mean Mr. Steele would have to turn away from the fact he worked hard himself and his family turned down government assistance! It would mean that Mr. Steele would have to rubber stamp government forcing states to allow people to kill their babies in the womb! When he is a Roman Catholic that is anti-abortion and anti-embryonic stem-cell research! Mr. Steele is a man that is true to himself and his own personal history! Which makes Mr. Mfume the “dummy” for thinking otherwise.
