Democratic obstructionists invoke Senate Rule 21!

In an effort to make a show and obstruct the normal flow of the Senate, Democratic leaders invoked Senate Rule 21 using trumped up claims about the Iraq War.

RULE XXI

SESSION WITH CLOSED DOORS

1. On a motion made and seconded to close the doors of the Senate, on the discussion of any business which may, in the opinion of a Senator, require secrecy, the Presiding Officer shall direct the galleries to be cleared; and during the discussion of such motion the doors shall remain closed.

2. When the Senate meets in closed session, any applicable provisions of rules XXIX and XXXI, including the confidentiality of information shall apply to any information and to the conduct of any debate transacted.

Democrats Force Closed Meeting on Iraq

Democrats forced the Republican-controlled Senate into an unusual closed session Tuesday, demanding answers about intelligence that led to the Iraq war. Republicans derided the move as a political stunt.

A former majority leader, Lott said a closed session is appropriate for such overarching matters as impeachment and chemical weapons _ the two topics that last sent the senators into such sessions.

In addition, Lott said, Reid’s move violated the Senate’s tradition of courtesy and consent. But there was nothing in Senate rules enabling Republicans to thwart Reid’s effort.

WHAT A SILLY WASTE OF MY TAX DOLLARS!!! They must be having a competition in DC today to decide how many dumb ways to waste my money :x !!!

AND THIS ALSO HOLDS UP THINGS LIKE MOVING TOWARDS THE APPROVAL OF SAMUEL ALITO TO THE US SUPREME COURT!!!

The Senate was right in the middle of working on a deficit reduction package!

Are these Democratic nuts just ticked that Karl Rove was not indicted or what?

We know that Joe Wilson’s VERBAL report did not disprove anything and may have supported a Niger uranium deal with Iraq!

This weak political attack will never fly!
