11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will not lift the injunction on GA Voter ID law, but will expedite hearing the case.

by @ 1:20 am. Filed under Questionable Items

In a bittersweet decision they will not allow the law to be enforced for now. But I am sure the full court will get this thing right!

Attorney General Thurbert Baker did the right thing and attempted to get the court to life the injunction. Once this is heard by the full court and the law is approved I am sure this will get to the full US Supreme Court. Because the band of nuts fighting this law will push the fight there for sure. But I think once there this assorted band of nuts’ efforts to stop a good law will be shut down for good!

The Judge behind this whole mess Judge Harold Murphy, was appointed in 1977 by then President Jimmy Carter. This has one Georgia legislator suggesting term limits for judges!

Ga. House Speaker wants national dialogue on judicial term limits

“I think citizens in general are sick and tired of people they vote for and elect going and making decisions and then a judge, who is not elected by anybody with a lifetime appointment, is able to put his or her will above those elected officials’ opinions,” he said.

“Think about it _ this gentleman was appointed as a federal judge when I was in high school and he’s been sitting there for nearly 30 years … I submit if he was elected like I was or perhaps hadn’t been there quite so long he might have a better perspective on things.”

Personally I think any judicial ruling should be voidable via a two thirds vote of both Houses of Congress. If it’s good enough to impeach a President or get Constitutional Amendments going it should be good enough to halt a judge’s ruling!

Most rationally thinking Americans realize a photo ID to verify identity is a good thing. Especially for something as critical as voting. GA’s law is on the right track! It still has it’s loopholes, but it is sure to help!

Pretty funny that Joseph Lowery would oppose GA’s Voter ID law, considering the actions of his own group!

In 2004, just prior to the November election a group working with Joseph Lowery was found to be submitting fraudulent voter registrations.
