GA Republican Senator Johnny Isakson, another weak so-called Conservative!

by @ 2:11 am. Filed under Questionable Items

GA Republican Senator Johnny Isakson has been pretty critical of people who stood against Harriet Miers’ nomination and is upset she stepped down. He wanted her in because she is a woman.

Here is what Senator Isakson had to say early on in the Miers nomination process:

Isakson said he was pleased Bush followed the advice of his wife, Laura, and tapped a woman for the job.

He even said it on his own web site!

Isakson Statement on Nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court

I am delighted President Bush has nominated a woman to replace Sandra Day O’Connor.

Even after all the information that came out about Harriet Miers Senator Isakson was still supporting her going through the full nomination process in radio interviews. I also heard him mentioning in interviews that critics of Miers did not know who she is. I think we gathered more than enough information to know, despite her shot paper trail!

After all the information that came out even James Dobson had doubts about her!

In a statement released after Miers’ decision, Focus on the Family founder James Dobson called it a “wise decision.” While the Colorado-based religious broadcaster had earlier tried to use his considerable weight in the evangelical community to back Miers, he said he had begun to have doubts.

“In recent days, I have grown increasingly concerned about her conservative credentials,” Dobson said. He cited the abortion speech and her expressions of “so much praise for left-wing feminist leaders” as reasons that he now realizes he “would not have been able to support her candidacy.”

No matter what came out, Isakson wanted to drag out our time and money to push it to a vote! That nomination, although she is a “nice lady” did not deserve to have time spent going to a full vote!

This is why I voted for Herman Cain in the GA Republican Senatorial primary. We have open primaries in Georgia, so I can vote in any I wish without joining a political party.

Bottom line, take note of who the weak so-called Conservatives were at moments like this and vote them out in the primary! I pray Georgia voters remember these events and don’t continue to vote for Isakson in primaries simply because he’s been in GA politics for DECADES! I don’t care how long he’s been in. He’s becoming a liability to the Conservative cause and is not true to Conservative principles!

I’ve made it known that I support Janice Rogers Brown being nominated. And I support her because of her credentials. Not at all because she is female or Black. If I simply wanted to endorse a Black person I’d recommend someone like Larry Thompson who has a very short paper trail. But I don’t want someone for their race or gender. I want someone who will do the best job. And the fact Senator Isakson stood so strongly behind Miers despite everything that came out shows he is as weak a Conservative as I’ve always felt he is!
