50 Cent’s billboards yanked after protests, good job!

by @ 5:07 pm. Filed under The Truth Shall Set you Free!

It is moments like this that I long for! Moments when groups that I normally take issue with stand up on a matter I AGREE WITH THEM ON!!! Because this is where I feel the focus should always be. Not on what government can give or what someone’s great, great, great, great grandparents did to anyone. Because this matter they took issue with this time is part of a real problem in inner cities. A culture of violence and depravity!

It started with this:

What? A coalition of Los Angeles Community

leaders, and parents who have lost children to gun

violence are demanding that Paramount Studios

remove the billboards and posters that are currently

being used to promote the upcoming release of

Gangsta rapper Curtis” 50 CENT” Jackson’s new movie

“Get Rich Or DieTryin.” The billboards and posters

depict the gangsta rapper “50 CENT” armed with

handguns and pointing them.

Why: “Gun violence is one of the leading causes of death for

young black males in South Central Los Angeles and

across urban America. It’s irresponsible for Paramount

Pictures to promote and market a movie that glorifies

carrying guns.Guns are weapons of mass destruction,

that are used to kill people, we demand that Paramount

Pictures remove these negative images of death

and destruction, images that our young children are

influenced by,” stated Najee Ali of Project Islamic HOPE

Now you know I’m a Conservative right? So I’m not buying all their “guns are a WMD” talk. I’m all for gun ownership and notice the ending of the assault weapons ban has not resulted in the mass mayhem some Liberals said would occur! But just the same their principle is sound! There is a real problem in the culture of many urban areas that involves people feeling they should shoot each other way too much! Their protest was an effort to bring about change in that culture. Kids really are influenced by this stuff and I’ve mentored enough to know! And most every group involved in the protest is one that I usually take issue with on other matters. But I have to say, if I lived in that area and the event was not being used as a Muslim recruitment rally or anything other than a protest of 50 Cent’s crap I WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE PROTESTING TOO! Because with the bodies laying in streets across America I’m happy to see efforts to denounce the culture that fosters it!

So they protested, and they were successful!

50 Cent’s billboards yanked after protests

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The distributor of rap star 50 Cent’s upcoming film said on Thursday it was taking down some movie billboards near Los Angeles-area schools after community leaders complained they glorify gangs and violence.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich sent a letter to distributor Paramount Pictures urging the billboards be yanked, starting with one outside a public school in Altadena, a suburb north of Los Angeles.

“This billboard conveys to the students a disturbing message actively promoting gun violence, criminal behavior and gang affiliation, he wrote in the letter to Paramount Motion Pictures Group Chairman Brad Gray.

So I say to them keep up the good work and I pray they all do more in this area.

Hey I give them their fair share of a pounding when I disagree with them. So I must be fair and acknowledge when they do good and actually take action that I think is a true positive. When they use the cameras for good like this I am glad.

(Take a picture this post, you may not see another like it from me for some time :D .)
