A gay group is attacking Morgan State University for a minister speaking out against a gay movement. And all this hits way too close to home for me! Because I attended and graduated from both Morgan State and Pikesville High, which is the high school involved in all this mess.
Gay Group Hits Morgan State Radio
|
This is like some bad dream for me! Being a graduate of Pikesville High I know the school would be open to junk like a group pushing the gay agenda! Thank God people like Rev. Duane Johnson decided to stand against it! Although Pikesville is a bit away from Morgan’s location. I would have hoped that more people in the Pikesville area would have taken more of a stand themselves. The religious community in that area is mostly Jewish. If any religious figures were speaking out I would have thought it would have been a minister of the Jewish community from that area. But it is a fairly Liberal area, as is the entire state! Just the same knowing many people in the area I know most are not in favor of something like this.
These attempts to press children into the gay agenda and lifestyle are just sinful! A minister is free to use state funded airwaves to speak about these issues in protest against them!
It is important for people like Rev. Johnson to get our strong support now, to prevent those pushing the gay agenda from ruling the day! A minister is free to speak against a lifestyle he knows is sinful.
This is bigger now than just some school having a “Coming Out” day and there being a protest against it. Now that a gay group is trying to control what is on publicly funded airwaves this is becoming a Freedom of Speech issue!
update (10/28/2005 12:44PM ET): DL Foster has coverage of this matter.
Also blog Faith In Action offers coverage and feels maybe are less antagonistic response would have worked better.
Rev. Johnson has been taken off the air!

But then Coleman mentioned:

Now everyone knows that show like others is not endorsed by the school. So talk about the disclaimer was just a means to get him off the air in a way that would prevent Rev. Johnson from taking legal action against the station. (Just the same Rev. Johnson should have covered himself with the disclaimer, so they would not have been able to use this means to remove him.) Most callers it seems agreed with Rev. Johnson, so I can’t say most regular listeners to the show were offended. And I feel Rev. Johnson has a right to protest and speak about it during his show. I do not find his actions to be “offensive” and it is sad that a GSA can impress their views openly while Christians that speak up aggressively are pulled from the airwaves. Rev. Johnson was simply speaking the Gospel as the Lord has shown it to him! And his words were not obscene and did not create any violence. So they should be allowed on the air! Now the evangelical that speaks vocally against a sin is the one that gets pulled! No matter if anyone agrees or disagrees with Rev. Johnson, I feel he still should be allowed to express his views and hold peaceful protests. Which is all he did. He is speaking about actions and not immutable things like someone’s race or gender. I’ve heard ministers speak against gluttony on the radio without being pulled from the air. Some people say they can’t help their eating and/or drinking and are prone to eat/drink a lot. Still they must take the action to eat that food or drink that alcohol, just as someone has to take action to lay down with somebody. Kids that want to do sins with their bodies and flash it all over campus should hear something from people with better morals! Be it students trying to promote straight sex outside of wedlock or this, it would have been good if the school were able to shut mess like this down! I don’t blame Rev. Johnson at all for speaking out. His method of action may be questioned, but I feel he was fully within his rights to do it and should not be pulled from the airwaves.
The radio station caving in just shows they are also giving into an agenda that will continue to destabilize this nation!
When protest is done against someone like 50 Cent and his mess is pulled, nobody says those protesters are “wrong” or being too aggressive! When people have a march to protest drug dealing everyone is OK with that! Only when the protest is against sins of gays is there talk of the protest being a bad idea! If all sin is viewed the same by God, then why would the response of a protest be OK for everything except gay activity? It is obvious that some are slowly caving in, just the way the designers of the gay agenda intended! Well I say WELL DONE REV. JOHNSON!

I would have to strongly disagree with everything that you’re saying. I posted a comment at http://www.faithinactiononline.com going against everything you have said here. It is not your job nor anyone else for that matter to judge and/or condemn what anyone is doing and I don’t blame the students of Morgan State who stood up for something they believed in. We need more young people like that in the world today!

I think you mean you stand with the few members of Pikesville High’s GSA. You have a right to disagree. I’m sure you will find more to be upset about as you continue reading

After some paid time off Rev. Duane Johnson will be back on the air. Hopefully he will not allow anyone to change his message!
