Last night C-BS’s 60 Minutes lead story was about a US Military deserter. I guess a story about positive developments in Iraq was too much trouble
! No need for 60 Minutes to cover positive events in things like the latest Iraqi election. Oh nooooo…. If 60 Minutes covers our military their results show that they work their hardest to find a story that is either bashing the military or highlighting someone that is against a war effort! So last night they devoted time to Charles “Robert” Jenkins. A deserter who left his men in order to turn himself over to the North Koreans during the rule of Kim Il Sung! Yea that’s more 60 Minutes’ speed. Instead of showing troops that are doing good and standing by their fellow soldiers, they go find a deserter who found his time in N. Korea to be unpleasant! So they mentioned:

Oh please! He came back because he knew nothing in the USA could be as bad as N. Korea! Especially after they sent his wife back to Japan! And before they gave him that wife, they had kicked his butt for saying he wanted to “sleep with” a woman they had previously assigned him more than their mandated twice a month!
Thanks for nothing 60 Minutes
!!!
We’ve got troops out there putting their lives on the line and you spend time with a deserter! Now granted his story does show how terrible an enemy like N. Korea really is, but giving your top story time to a deserter is just really bad taste!
And of course, he’s trying to sell a book (in Japan where he now lives with his wife)! I never saw 60 Minutes do an exclusive interview with General Tommy Franks when he released his book American Soldier! Nope, you’ve got to do something that goes outside military guidelines to get the lead on 60 Minutes
!
Searching CBSNews.com’s 60 Minutes for General Tommy Franks, the only story you will find is: Tracking Saddam Hussein
|
Yea, when the military could not find Saddam 60 Minutes was right there to rub our military’s face in it! But nothing after Saddam was captured! Nothing about the trial. I’m sure if Saddam escaped and could not be found they would be all over that!
So since 60 Minutes won’t share any positive military stories, I’m listing some good sources for things you’ll never see on 60 Minutes:
If America’s oldest and most watched television news magazine can’t find time to offer more of the good news, we all should find time to look elsewhere for it!
