Michelle Malkin is covering the e-mails that detail a lack of seriousness on the part of some FEMA officials.
She is right to say:

Say it all together now: Michael Brown being fired was a good thing!
If you run FEMA and you are worried about your nice sit-down dinner while people are drowning! YOU’RE NUTS!
update (10/21/2005 4:52PM ET): Did some quick transcription of parts of a couple of interesting e-mails.
The first I will list portions of an e-mail below that mentions FEMA’s responsibilities before a disaster has struck. And these are responsibilities many critics of the Federal Government’s role should know. So be sure to tell this to anyone who mistakenly feels it was the Federal Government’s job to move people out ahead of the storm.

Bottom line, if state and local officials had done a better job themselves there would have been less of a burden to deal with after the storm hit! And of course it would have helped if more people who could have left actually did leave!
This other message is a priceless expression from someone on the ground at the time. After hearing that other higher ups in FEMA were going to get some dinner. And he was asked how much time he might need to eat at the restaurant of his choice, while others would be off doing the same. Keep in mind, people drowning, people hurting, children hungry all while this is taking place.

Evacuations began the following day.
One would have hoped that more of the big decision makers and higher ups in FEMA were more like Marty! In times like that they all should have been enjoying an MRE and getting back to work. Not trying to find the restaurant of their choice!

Bush takes the crony route for immigration enforcement
I’m thinking that we can forget all that talk from Bush, when he was saying that he was going to show a stronger hand in border enforcement. Because he’s just made a big time crony pick with his recess appointment of Julie L. Myers to run…

Katrina Tapes Show Brown and Bush Were on the Job. Shows Blanco Gave White House Bad Information.
First I need to mention, that the primary blame regarding any issues during/after hurricane Katrina falls on the heads of the people who did not leave as they were told to do. And while the local government could have offered transportation, I do not…
