Officials in Johnson City, TN tried to help students at East Tennessee State University by denying one of their elected favorite artist Ludacris use of Freedom Hall for a planned concert. They cited security concerns as the reason for the denial. (Personally I would not mind if they denied him access simply because he is the embodiment of the word obscene.) Despite this good deed on the part of the town’s elected officials the school’s officials are determined to be facilitators for the smut their students crave!
Ludacris May Still Perform at Tenn. School

What some people won’t do for a dose of smut!
You would expect a college to show a little responsibility and character by also keeping a trash artist off their campus. But then again you would hope people in college would want something better than a trash mouthed artist. The women of Spellman college showed they are a bit wiser in this regard.
There are other voices crying out in the wilderness of foolishness. Although he is a Liberal in many respects, director Spike Lee sees the problem that is growing in Black culture.

It appears Spike Lee like Dr. Bill Cosby is trying to act as a counterweight to the negative and help people who are actively in the process of destroying themselves.
And Bill Cosby is still out there himself trying to bring about change.

To those countering the trash of artist like Nelly and Ludacris I must say keep up the good work!
(On a side note, I have to say whenever I mention Bill Cosby I can’t help but think of the many accusations of sexual abuse that have been made against him. I would be foolish to say every single one was a lie. Part of me wants Cosby under a jail! But given he’s never been found guilty of a thing, I am glad that he is out doing good work these days.)
update (10/11/2005 1:01AM ET): After making this post I read a very interesting post by Cobb that is a nice addition to this. Because he makes an excellent point that anyone who actually has gotten their hands dirty trying to help folks in need has learned the hard way. You can’t save them all! Some will make a positive change and others are just doomed! We must accept that there is going to be some loss.
