The Sudan situation. Bill Bennett praises the efforts of Senators Obama and Brownback

While listening to Bill Bennett’s radio show this morning he mentioned a Washington Post Op-ed by Liberal Democratic Senator Barack Obama and Conservative Republican Senator Sam Brownback.

Ron B, I have a question. When in discussion, is it necessary that individuals confine their observations, examples, or comments only to those of their own race?

MetsFan, interesting that you conclude that Bennett is a racist from the quote that that includes the caution that aborting African American babies would be "morally reprehensible". One could conclude that words and thought can not change your opinion.

We aren't making much progress.

You sound like some of the Dems who never denounced Clinton for his behaviour with the intern.
I denounce Bill Bennett as a racist based on the text of his discourse on the following web page:

D:

I hear what you are saying and agree with you at the big picture level.

HOWEVER Bill Bennett is at fault for making use of a Black person in his example.

I acknowledge that he is an active abortion opponent and he and his wife has acted to save the lives of the unborn. He should have known though that by venturing into this turf, making use of Black people in this way that he would have to tread lightly to avoid such a blow up.

If you notice on television when there is an interacial scene of cops and robbers the cop will be Black (the latest Burger King commerical with the cop having an arm attached to his body because two hands are needed to eat the burger). Bennett should have made use of "one of his own" to remove the RACIAL ATTACKS that he was certain to receive.

Objectively speaking his critics are always going to take his words at their WORST CASE SCENARIO and will assume that he was saying that Blacks are criminals. Remove Blacks and you remove crime.
